Ministry of Tourism Culture and Sport

March 23, 2018

Dear Partners,

I am writing to you with information about the next steps on Rowan's Law (Concussion Safety), 2018 (“Rowan’s Law”) as we continue to seek your input to help inform the development of regulations to support the legislation.

We welcome and encourage your feedback on the questions contained on the government’s Ontario Regulatory Registry. I encourage you to share the survey link broadly within your organization and with other sport partners, noting that responses to the consultation will be accepted until May 7, 2018.

As the regulations are developed, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport (MTCS) will also be working to establish evidence-based, practical and accessible concussion-related tools and templates to support the implementation of Rowan’s Law. These tools will include concussion awareness resources, removal-from-sport/return-to-sport protocols, and concussion codes of conduct. All of these resources will be made available for adaptation by sport organizations and other sector partners prior to proclamation of the Act and regulations.

Rowan’s Law (Concussion, Safety), 2018 will result in transformative change for concussion recognition and management in amateur competitive sport. We look forward to working with all of our sport partners to ensure a smooth and successful implementation.

For additional information, please visit our website. I also encourage you to keep up to date on our progress through Facebook and Twitter and to provide your feedback on our consultation paper.

With kind regards,

Daiene Vernile

Minister
